Franklin is the founder of The Black List, Hollywood’s “insider goldmine”, that ranks the best unproduced screenplays of the year, and whose choices have resulted in $16 Billion in world box-office revenue and 148 Academy Award nominations (25 wins).
Named by Hollywood Reporter as 2010’s 35 top entertainment executives under 35, Franklin got his start as a business analyst at McKinsey & Co. before going to work in Hollywood to work with John Goldwyn and Leonardo Dicaprio’s respective production companies. He then ran film development at Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella’s Mirage Enterprises and soon after became one of Universal Studio’s youngest executives. Until recently, he was VP of Creative Affairs at Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. Franklin graduated magna cum laude at Harvard University.
Franklin, who worked with BoomGen as the development exec for one of its main franchise properties, 1001, will help oversee the Company’s development strategies and planning.
