Mahyad Tousi, Co-Founder & CEO

Mahyad leads business and creative strategy for the company, and is the lead producer on all of BoomGen Studios’ projects. An ardent entrepreneur, Mahyad brings over fifteen years of experience spanning multiple industries and projects. His work has been shown theatrically, on television, and in museums and galleries around the world. He has worked in 26-countries, spanning five continents, as a producer and cinematographer, working on a wide range of projects and genres, including award-winning documentaries, independent narrative features, and video installations shown and sold to major Museums and art collections across the world.

As an independent producer, he has worked both in narrative features with Oscar nominated actors in Marvelous in 2007 (Amy Ryan & Micheal Shannon), and Looking For Palladin in 2009 (Talia Shire, Ben Gazzara); in the 2011 Oscar-nominated Documentary Waste Land, and for Television (We Are New York in 2010). As a Cinematographer, he has worked with world-renowned video artist Mika Rottenberg for the last four years (Cheese, Fried Sweat, and Squeeze), as well as on the multiple award-winning-documentary Blindsight (Audience Award ’07 Berlinale), about six blind Tibetan teenagers that attempt to climb Everest, and The First Amendment Project: Some Assembly Required (Sundance Channel, Court TV).

Mahyad studied filmmaking at NYU and has appeared as a guest lecturer for the MFA program at the City College of NY (CCNY). He frequently appears as a presenter and panelist on media, technology, and the shifting paradigm of storytelling.
